The SAM-DA-400-07N-P5N-E servo amplifier is manufactured by Danaher as part of the SAM Servo Amplifiers series. It converts three-phase line power into regulated current for brushless servo motors and exchanges position data with the motion controller, maintaining tight velocity and torque loops in industrial automation. By delivering controlled energy and processing feedback, the unit coordinates linear slides, rotary actuators, and pick-and-place axes found in packaging, assembly, and material-handling cells.
Primary power is supplied from three-phase 400 VAC lines; this input is rectified to create a nominal DC link of 565 VDC that can rise to 625 VDC under regenerative conditions. At an 8 kHz switching frequency, the amplifier delivers 6.5 A RMS continuously and can reach 10 A RMS for short acceleration bursts. A separate control rail draws 0.8 A during normal operation, rises to 1.0 A under maximum I/O load, and demands 2.5 A when the drive is first energized. The ±10 V analog command interface accepts velocity or torque references, while an RS-422 service port operating at 19,200 baud provides parameter access. Standard user I/O includes two digital inputs, one high-speed digital input, one digital output, and one analog input for local machine signals.
Motion feedback is provided by a resolver and sine-cosine encoder, giving absolute multi-turn position data and fine interpolation for smooth commutation. The drive housing is rated IP20, so it must reside inside a protected control cabinet with forced airflow. Control electronics are energized from the 24 VDC auxiliary rail, isolating logic circuits from the high-energy power stage. With a mass of 3.8 kg, the amplifier can be installed on DIN rails or direct panel studs without heavy brackets.
