Product Description:
The Q7022-14 is a regenerative DC drive designed to control speed and torque of shunt-wound or permanent magnet DC motors. It offers regenerative braking capabilities and is a part of quadraline regenerative drives series by Danaher, suitable for applications requiring bidirectional motor control and energy efficiency.
The Q7022-14 regenerative drive is rated for 1/4 to 1 HP while it can support up to 2 HP output at 230 VAC for low-to-medium horsepower DC motor systems. It needs universal AC input to operate and accepts either 115 or 230 VACs at 50/60 Hz. The Q7022 drive has a selectable field output of 50, 100 or 200 VDC at 1 amp for separately excited DC motors. It features full four-quadrant regenerative control to allow the motor perform forward and reverse motion and braking. The Q7022 drive regenerative functionality enables energy to be fed back to the AC line during deceleration or overhauling load conditions, rather than dissipating it as heat to improve overall system efficiency and thermal performance. The Q7022 drive’s NEMA 4/12 enclosure rating ensures protection so that it can be deployed in harsh industrial conditions of dust, oil and water splashes. It draws up to 14 A current and delivers a regulated output of 90 or 180 VDC at a maximum of 10 A current.
The Q7022-14 regenerative drive includes operator interface functions such as Start/Stop, Run/Jog selection, Forward/Reverse toggle and a precision single-turn speed potentiometer for controlling the attached motor. The Q7022 drive accepts isolated analog input signals of 4–20 mA, ±5 VDC, 0–10 VDC, ±14 VDC or 0–100 VDC to seamlessly connect with controllers, PLCs and external feedback loops. It does not have the optional zero position dancer control feature.
Frequently Asked Questions about Q7022-14:
Q: How does the four-quadrant regenerative feature enhance motor control?
A: It allows the motor to perform motoring and braking in both directions, enabling smooth reversing and dynamic deceleration under load.
Q: Why is isolated analog input support important in the Q7022-14 drive?
A: It minimizes electrical noise and prevents ground loops, improving signal integrity when integrating with PLCs or feedback systems.
Q: What’s the advantage of having selectable 50/100/200 VDC field output in the Q7022-14?
A: It provides compatibility with a wider range of separately excited DC motors, improving versatility across applications.
Q: How does the 90 or 180 VDC output voltage setting affect motor performance?
A: Choosing the correct voltage ensures optimal torque and speed matching for the motor, enhancing system responsiveness.
Q: What protection does the NEMA 4/12 enclosure rating provide for the Q7022-14?
A: It ensures resistance to oil, dust and water splashes, enabling reliable performance in harsh industrial environments.
