The Q7022-14 regenerative DC drive is manufactured by Danaher within the Quadraline Regenerative Drives series. This closed-loop controller accepts speed or torque commands from analog process hardware and modulates armature voltage while simultaneously managing field excitation. By allowing four-quadrant operation, the drive eliminates external contactors and feeds excess energy back to the line, an advantage in applications such as winding stations, bidirectional conveyors, and test stands where rapid direction changes and controlled deceleration are required. It operates as the interface between the mains supply and fractional-horsepower to two-horsepower DC motors used throughout automated machinery.
Its armature circuit delivers 0–90 VDC when supplied from 115 V and up to 0–180 VDC on a 230 V line, giving full armature control across both standard North American and international mains levels. The input tolerance of 230 VAC ±10% prevents nuisance trips under modest line sag. Mechanical power is matched through a continuous rating of 2 HP at the higher input, while low-voltage operation supports one-quarter to one-horsepower machines. Short, high-demand events are handled by an overload reserve of 150% for one minute, permitting acceleration of inertial loads without oversizing the drive. A programmable speed range of 50:1 enables slow creep speeds as well as base-speed production. The gasketed NEMA 4/12 enclosure blocks dust and coolant splashes during panel-mounted operation.
The frequency-handling section processes reference, tachometer, or pulse inputs up to 3600 Hz, while an internal scaler sets 1200 Hz as full scale for proportional loops. For field windings, it furnishes 100 V with a 115 V supply or 200 VDC when operated from a 230 V supply, maintaining constant flux during speed changes. An isolated feedback port produces a signal within ±10 VDC for external recorders or supervisory PLC analog inputs. The drive also provides a 60-pulse tachometer output and accepts tachometer inputs up to 100 V. Compatibility with 4–20 mA command signals broadens the available interface options without requiring additional signal conditioners.
