Product Description:
The B162 regenerative drive is produced by Danaher and belongs to the Quadraline Regenerative Drives series. As a line-commutated unit, it converts single-phase AC power into controlled armature voltage while channeling energy returned from overhauling loads back to the supply. In industrial automation, this product regulates DC motor speed, maintains commanded torque, and recovers braking energy, promoting tighter process control and improved electrical efficiency.
Electrical compatibility centers on a single-phase input, and the drive withstands mains variations of ±10% in voltage and ±2 Hz in frequency without derating. Its short-term overload capacity is 150% for 1 minute, supporting high-inertia starts or rapid acceleration. The heat sink and current-limiting circuitry allow the converter to return to steady-state output immediately afterward. The cast chassis and gasketed cover meet the NEMA 4/12 enclosure rating, protecting the control electronics from dust, oil, and water splashes during operation. This protection allows placement on open production floors without an auxiliary cabinet, while the vertical orientation with terminals facing downward preserves convection airflow and provides clear drip paths.
Continuous-duty operation is maintained across a 30:1 armature-feedback speed range, and closed-loop error stays within ±2% from no load to full load. The thermal design supports full output at enclosed ambient temperatures up to 40 °C and at installation heights reaching 3,300 ft (1,000 m) without a change in performance. The internal power section is rated for continuous duty, so the converter can supply its rated current indefinitely when adequate airflow is available. A remote station supplies start, stop, and speed inputs. The control loop recognizes a normally open start contact and a normally closed stop circuit, and it can process a 12.25 VDC tachometer signal for higher-resolution speed feedback. Because local keypad hardware is omitted, all user interaction is routed through the external panel or PLC I/O, providing a consistent control arrangement across multiple drives.
