Product Description:
The RT12048LV041C encoder from Danaher belongs to the Dynapar Encoders series. It is a rotary feedback device intended for mounting on rotating shafts to provide position and speed information for drives, PLC modules, and servo systems in industrial automation. By delivering precise quadrature signals, the unit enables closed-loop control so motors can maintain commanded velocity or positioning tolerances during machine cycles.
The electronic section draws a typical 95 mA from the 5 V supply, and it can source or sink up to 150 mA per channel through the onboard IC-WE differential line driver. This output capacity allows direct connection to high-speed PLC counters without external buffers. The code disc produces 2048 pulses per revolution, so each full rotation is subdivided into 8,192 quadrature edges, providing a base angular resolution of 0.0439 degrees. Channel A leads channel B during counterclockwise rotation, and the quadrature phasing remains at 90 degrees with a tolerance of ±45 degrees to maintain reliable edge separation. The encoder provides incremental A and B channels without an index signal.
The encoder uses a 10-pin industrial latching connector and has an IP65 enclosure rating, protecting the connection and internal components against dust and low-pressure water jets in factory environments. Its magnetic sensing element supports reliable operation across a radial air gap of 0.050 in +0.015/-0.040, reducing the alignment precision required during installation. The output waveforms retain a duty-cycle symmetry of 50% ±15°, providing balanced high and low durations for consistent timing in edge-counting circuits. A stainless-steel housing protects the electronics from mechanical damage and exposure to common lubricants. The A and B signal channels are routed through the secure latching connection, which helps prevent accidental disconnection during vibration.
