Product Description:
The RI58-O/5000ES.41RD is an incremental rotary encoder manufactured by Danaher and supplied under the Dynapar Encoders series. Integrated into servo motors or conveyor shafts, it translates mechanical rotation into standardized digital signals that downstream drives and PLCs interpret for velocity regulation, registration, and homing tasks in industrial automation systems. Its compact housing and optical scanning principle make it suitable for packaging machines, printing presses, and positioning stages. The encoder provides precise position and speed information without requiring a large installation space.
The encoder delivers 5000 PPR on its incremental tracks, giving controllers fine resolution for indexing and speed control. The receiving electronics can accept a pulse repetition rate of up to 300 kHz, so full counts are maintained even on high-speed spindles. The differential driver provides an RS-422 output with an alarm signal, supplying balanced A, B, and Z channels that resist electrical noise over long cable runs. The enclosure has an IP65 protection rating, blocking dust ingress and low-pressure water jets. A stainless steel shaft with a diameter of 6 mm mates directly with couplings or motor shafts. The 12-pole internal code disk aligns with the optical system to maintain count accuracy at the mechanical interface.
Alarm signaling is implemented through an NPN open-collector stage that sinks a maximum of 5 mA when a light-loss or supply fault is detected, allowing the host controller to trigger a machine stop. Mechanical attachment uses a synchro flange, and the electrical interface is a radially positioned M23 Conin connector with plugs keyed for a clockwise rotation reference. The radial connector orientation reduces the installation depth compared with an axial connection. Output symmetry is maintained with a 1:1 duty factor, and the generated waveform remains square to keep timing margins consistent. Pulse-width error stays within ±25 electrical degrees. The assembly withstands shocks of 1000 m/s² for 6 ms, preserving signal integrity during rapid tooling changes and other sudden mechanical disturbances.
