Product Description:
The HS35R2048H3P7 is a hollow-shaft incremental encoder manufactured by Danaher as part of the Dynapar Encoders series. It converts mechanical rotation into square-wave pulse outputs so drive controllers can monitor speed, position, and direction in industrial automation lines. The unit slips over a motor or process shaft and locks with a simple anti-rotation tether, eliminating couplings and reducing axial length. Its design provides direct feedback for variable-frequency drives, conveyor systems, and indexing machinery.
The optical disc provides 2048 pulses per revolution of incremental resolution, enabling fine velocity control even on low-speed axes. Output channels maintain quadrature phasing of 90° ±22.5° and symmetry of 180° ±18°, giving balanced A and B pulses for directional decoding. The sensing electronics respond at frequencies up to 100 kHz, so the pulse train remains clean at high rotational velocities. Electrical power can be supplied from 4.5 VDC to 26 VDC, and the encoder draws no more than 100 mA from the power rail. Within this voltage range, the unit tolerates shaft speeds up to 3600 rpm without losing edge accuracy. Starting torque is 5.0 oz-in, and the running torque falls to 4.5 oz-in once rotation begins, minimizing the load on the drive motor.
Mechanically, the encoder weighs 16 oz and supports an axial shaft load of 30 lb and a radial shaft load of 40 lb, allowing direct installation on moderate-diameter shafts. The load capacities accommodate the forces commonly encountered when the encoder is mounted directly on rotating industrial equipment. Ball bearings rated for 80,000 hours of operation at the maximum rated speed support long service intervals in continuous-duty equipment. The sealed housing carries a NEMA 4/IP66 rating, protecting internal components from dust and high-pressure water jets near washdown areas or outdoor conveyors. Controlled internal friction helps the encoder maintain stable pulse generation while limiting resistance against the connected shaft.
