Product Description:
The HS35R2048837J incremental encoder is produced by Danaher as part of the Dynapar Encoders series. This hollow-shaft device converts mechanical rotation into an electrical pulse train for closed-loop speed and position control in industrial automation. By mounting directly on a motor or gearbox shaft, the encoder supplies real-time feedback to drives and PLCs, improving the accuracy of conveyors, packaging machines, and similar motion systems. The direct-mount design also reduces the need for separate couplings between the encoder and the rotating equipment.
The unit delivers a resolution of 2048 PPR, meaning the sensor produces 2,048 equally spaced pulse cycles per shaft revolution for precise speed regulation and positional indexing. Its optical electronics support a frequency response of at least 100 kHz, allowing the encoder to operate in high-speed control loops without losing pulse data. The maximum permitted shaft speed is 3600 rpm, which accommodates typical motor speeds in material-handling equipment. The enclosure meets NEMA 4/IP66 requirements, so the housing resists dust ingress, hose-directed water, and oil splashes. This protection allows the encoder to be installed on shop-floor machinery without an additional protective enclosure.
The radial load capacity reaches 40 lb, while the axial load limit is 30 lb, allowing the encoder bearings to withstand belt tension and thrust from connected components. The hollow bore measures 5/8 in and has a tolerance of +0.0003/+0.0005 in, accommodating standard shafts used in North American drive systems. During operation, the encoder produces only 4.5 oz-in of running torque, which minimizes added drag on the host shaft. Its total mass is 16 oz, helping keep the overhung load on the connected equipment low. The moment of inertia is 7.9 × 10⁻⁴ oz-in-s², allowing the encoder to track rapid acceleration and deceleration without placing a substantial inertial load on the rotating assembly.
