The HS35R2000E177 hollow-shaft incremental encoder is built by Danaher for the Dynapar Encoders series. It mounts directly on a motor or machine shaft and converts mechanical rotation into two offset square-wave channels plus an index pulse, supplying real-time position and speed feedback to drives, PLCs, and motion controllers used throughout industrial automation. The through-shaft construction simplifies tethered installation on existing equipment while keeping the sensing electronics electrically isolated from the driven shaft.
The encoder provides a resolution of 2000 PPR, so each revolution produces 2,000 pulses for precise velocity regulation. A minimum frequency response of 100 kHz lets control systems track pulses accurately at elevated speeds, and the digital outputs maintain a rise and fall time no greater than 1 µs, preserving clean transitions over long cables. Operating speeds of up to 3600 rpm are permitted before mechanical or electrical limits are reached. For harsh environments, the housing meets NEMA 4/IP66 requirements, blocking water jets and airborne dust from the optical disc. Quadrature phasing remains at 90° ±22.5° electrical, while channel symmetry stays within 180° ±18°. Input current is limited to 100 mA to reduce the load on 5 V logic supplies.
The hollow bore is ground to a tolerance of +0.0003/+0.0005 in, providing a slip fit on standard shafts without special adapters. During motion, the internal rotor adds only 4.5 oz-in of running torque, while breakaway torque is limited to 5.0 oz-in. The bearings accommodate radial loads of 40 lb and axial loads of 30 lb. The assembly endures shocks of 50 G for 11 ms commonly encountered in material-handling machinery. Despite these ratings, the unit weighs less than 16 oz, allowing the use of lightweight mounting brackets while minimizing its influence on overall machine inertia.
