Product Description:
The HS35R1200P379 is an incremental hollow-shaft encoder manufactured by Danaher within the Dynapar Encoders series. It mounts on a motor or machine shaft and converts mechanical rotation into square-wave electrical pulses that a drive or PLC counts for speed regulation, phase matching, and position indexing. By providing real-time feedback, the unit supports closed-loop control schemes that improve throughput and reduce mechanical wear in conveyors, packaging lines, and similar automated equipment. Its hollow-shaft design permits direct attachment to a rotating shaft without requiring a separate coupling, helping conserve installation space and limit the number of mechanical interfaces.
Its sensing section generates a resolution of 1200 PPR, meaning each full revolution is divided into 1,200 discrete counts that determine positioning granularity. The optical circuitry provides a frequency response of at least 100 kHz, so high-speed pulse trains remain clean at elevated motor speeds. The electronics accept supply voltages ranging from 4.5 VDC to 26 VDC and draw no more than 100 mA, simplifying integration with 5-volt or 24-volt control buses. The low current draw minimizes heat generation and allows several encoders to share a common supply rail. Startup torque is limited to 5.0 oz-in, reducing the load placed on small drive trains during startup and helping the attached shaft begin rotating smoothly.
The hollow bore withstands continuous rotation at speeds up to 3600 rpm and tolerates radial forces of 40 lb and axial forces of 30 lb without bearing damage. Its cast housing carries an IP66 ingress protection rating, blocking dust and powerful water jets, while the internal components withstand shocks up to 50 G. Operation is permitted from -40 °C to +90 °C, supporting use in cold-storage areas as well as machinery exposed to elevated operating temperatures. Minimal rotating inertia in the optical disc supports smooth acceleration to the rated speed and reduces its effect on the connected drive train. The encoder weighs 16 oz, allowing it to fit on compact motor flanges without significantly affecting shaft balance or placing excessive mass on the mounting arrangement.
