Product Description:
The HS35R1024J577 is a hollow-shaft rotary encoder produced by Danaher for the Dynapar Encoders series. This unit attaches directly to a motor or machine shaft and converts rotation into digital pulses for speed and position feedback in industrial automation systems such as conveyors, pick-and-place stations, and web-handling equipment. Its heavy-duty, shaft-mounted design supplies quadrature channels that allow controllers to determine rotational direction and track movement.
As an incremental encoder, the unit relies on an optical disk and detectors protected by a NEMA 4/IP66 housing that blocks dust and washdown spray. Each mechanical revolution produces 1024 PPR, and the output stages respond to frequency changes up to 100 kHz, supporting high-speed indexing. Accurate edge timing is maintained because quadrature phasing stays within 90° ± 22.5° electrical, while symmetry remains within 180° ± 18°. The rotor can reach 3600 rpm without signal loss, while its running torque is only 4.5 oz-in and its starting torque does not exceed 5.0 oz-in, minimizing the load placed on the drive. Dual bearings allow the hub to withstand 40 lb radial and 30 lb axial loads, reducing the need for external brackets or flexible couplings. The logic electronics draw no more than 100 mA from the control supply.
The encoder has a shock rating of 50 G for 11 ms, allowing it to withstand abrupt stops on presses or indexers. Its square-wave outputs have rise and fall times of less than 1 µs at 1000 pF, preserving clear signal edges over long cable runs. All signals pass through a sealed 8-pin M12 connector, which supports secure and convenient cable attachment. The aluminum body weighs 16 oz, minimizing overhung mass on the host shaft, while the low current draw simplifies power allocation in multi-axis control panels.
