Product Description:
The HS35R1024H3NX13 is a hollow-shaft incremental encoder produced by Danaher for the Dynapar Encoders series. It attaches directly to a driven shaft and translates mechanical rotation into electrical pulses that a drive or PLC can count for closed-loop speed or position control. By using an integral flexible tether rather than a separate coupling, the encoder tolerates small shaft misalignments and reduces the time required for installation in industrial motion systems.
This model delivers a resolution of 1024 PPR; each revolution is divided into 1,024 evenly spaced pulses so drives can regulate velocity and index positions accurately. A minimum frequency response of 100 kHz lets the electronics process high pulse rates without signal clipping, which keeps feedback reliable at elevated motor speeds. The sensing head supports shaft rotation up to 3600 rpm, matching the typical top speed of standard NEMA motors. Starting torque is limited to 5.0 oz-in, and running torque stays below 4.5 oz-in, so the encoder adds minimal load to small servo or vector motors. System inertia remains low because the rotating mass has a moment of inertia of only 25.6 ×10-4 oz-in-s²; this helps controlled axes accelerate and decelerate predictably.
The encoder has a 1-1/8 in bore with a shaft bore tolerance of +0.0003/+0.0005 in, providing a tight fit on common 1.125-inch output shafts while permitting axial movement of ±0.050 in and radial movement of ±0.025 in. The housing has a NEMA 4 / IP66 enclosure rating, which protects the internal optics against dust and high-pressure washdown. The bearings withstand combined loads of 40 lb radial and 30 lb axial, helping prevent tensioned belt drives or gearboxes from shortening their service life. The unit survives mechanical shocks of 50 G for 11 ms and weighs only 16 oz, making it suitable for mobile platforms and machinery exposed to substantial vibration. Its hollow-shaft arrangement eliminates the need for an external shaft coupling, while the flexible tether prevents the housing from rotating with the driven shaft.
