Product Description:
The HS35R1024D372PS is an incremental hollow-shaft rotary encoder built by Danaher within the Dynapar Encoders series. This device mounts on a motor or machine shaft and converts mechanical rotation into two quadrature pulse trains for motion controllers, variable-frequency drives, or PLC high-speed counters. By delivering precise position and speed feedback, the unit helps regulate web tension, conveyor synchronization, and other closed-loop tasks in industrial automation environments.
In operation, the encoder provides a resolution of 1024 PPR, meaning each revolution is divided into 1,024 equally spaced cycles that translate into digital position data. A frequency response of at least 100 kHz allows those pulses to be captured accurately even when shaft velocity changes rapidly. The sealing system has a NEMA 4/IP66 rating, so the internal optics remain protected against oil spray, dust, and high-pressure washdown. The maximum mechanical input speed is 3600 rpm, allowing the sensor to operate on common AC motor shafts without overspeed damage. Installation accuracy is supported by a bore tolerance of +0.0003/+0.0005 in, ensuring a tight slip fit on standard shafting.
Mechanical loading is accommodated by capacities of 40 lb radial and 30 lb axial, which help protect the internal bearings from premature wear when belts or flexible couplings pull on the hub. During motion, the running torque remains below 4.5 oz-in, minimizing drag on low-power servomotors, while the breakaway torque is limited to 5.0 oz-in at startup. The overall mass is 16 oz, permitting direct mounting on lightly supported shafts. Additional features include an integral LED output indicator for quick channel diagnostics and electrical quadrature phasing of 90° ±22.5° for directional detection. The encoder also provides electrical index and symmetry windows of 180° ±18°, with channel A leading channel B during clockwise rotation.
