Product Description:
The HS35R1024AX7838 is a hollow-shaft incremental encoder manufactured by Danaher for the Dynapar Encoders series. By translating shaft rotation into timed pulse trains, it supplies position and speed data to motion controllers and PLCs used in industrial automation. Direct mounting on a motor or conveyor shaft keeps eccentricity low, while a tether arm prevents the encoder housing from rotating with the shaft. This arrangement makes the unit suitable for feedback loops on packaging lines, web unwinding systems, and general machinery that depend on accurate rotational information.
Its optical disk delivers a resolution of 1024 PPR, letting a control loop resolve approximately 0.35 degrees of motion per pulse. The electronics accept a supply range of 4.5 to 26 VDC, so both 5-volt logic rails and 24-volt control power can operate the sensor without converters. A minimum frequency response of 100 kHz supports high-speed counting when rapid index moves occur. The encoder supports continuous operation at speeds up to 3600 RPM before bearing life begins to decrease. Its NEMA 4/IP66 sealing guards the code wheel and optics against dust and washdown fluids commonly found in industrial facilities.
The hollow hub withstands an axial force of 30 lb and a radial force of 40 lb, helping the encoder tolerate belt tension and thrust misalignment without impairing sensing accuracy. Running drag stays below 4.5 oz-in, reducing the load placed on the connected shaft. Initial breakaway torque does not exceed 5.0 oz-in, which eases acceleration demands on small servo or stepper motors. The output signals have quadrature phasing of 90 degrees ± 22.5 degrees and symmetry of 180 degrees ± 18 degrees. The shaft bore has a tolerance of +0.0003 to +0.0005 inches for a controlled fit on the installed shaft. Maximum current draw is 100 mA, allowing the encoder to operate from common industrial control supplies. The encoder weighs 16 ounces, which limits the additional mass placed on compact motor and conveyor assemblies.
