Product Description:
The HS35R10248XP224 is a hollow-shaft incremental encoder manufactured by Danaher for the Dynapar Encoders series. It slips over the driven shaft and converts rotary motion into a pair of digital pulse trains that a drive or PLC counts to determine speed, direction, and position. By providing electrical isolation between the rotating shaft and stationary electronics, the unit supports precise closed-loop control on conveyors, web lines, and other motion axes in industrial automation.
The encoder produces a resolution of 1024 PPR, so each revolution is subdivided into 1024 uniform increments for angular measurements of approximately 0.35 degrees. A minimum output frequency capability of 100 kHz allows the channels to toggle fast enough for high-velocity processes without missing counts. Mechanically, the sensing stack remains accurate at speeds up to 3600 RPM, matching the permitted operating speed of the mating machine shaft. The enclosure carries a protection rating of NEMA 4/IP66, guarding the optics against dust ingress and high-pressure washdowns. The antifriction bearings have an operating life of 80,000 hours at 3600 RPM, allowing long maintenance intervals under continuous duty. Internal components can withstand an impact of 50 G for 11 ms, so incidental knocks during installation do not disturb calibration.
Direct coupling is supported by a shaft loading limit of 40 lb radial and 30 lb axial, minimizing the need for outboard bearings. The encoder maintains signal integrity in dynamic installations because it tolerates vibration from 5 to 2000 Hz at 20 G. Low drag characteristics, including 5.0 oz-in of starting torque and 4.5 oz-in of running torque, reduce the additional load placed on the motor. The shaft interface requires +0.0003/+0.0005 inches of bore clearance, ±0.025 inches of radial runout, and ±0.050 inches of axial endplay. The overall assembly weighs less than 16 oz, simplifying handling and installation in confined machine spaces.
