Product Description:
The HS35R10248DC6PS is an incremental hollow-shaft encoder produced by Danaher and supplied through the Dynapar Encoders series. In automated machinery, it attaches directly to a motor or gearbox shaft and delivers two out-of-phase square-wave channels plus an index pulse, allowing motion controllers to calculate position, velocity, and rotation direction with minimal latency. Its aluminum housing and sealed bearing design are intended for plant environments where frequent washdown or airborne particulates are common.
This model outputs 1024 PPR, providing 1,024 pulses from each output channel during every mechanical revolution and enabling fine speed regulation on conveyor, packaging, or web-handling lines. A minimum frequency response of 100 kHz ensures the pulse train remains accurate even when the driven axis accelerates rapidly. The hollow shaft accommodates a diameter of 5/8 in, and a split-clamp collar secures the encoder without additional couplings, streamlining installation. Its housing carries a combined NEMA 4/IP66 rating, protecting the unit against dust ingress and high-pressure water jets without an auxiliary enclosure. Electrical outputs remain reliable at shaft speeds up to 3,600 rpm, so the encoder can track common AC induction motors at full line frequency without missing pulses.
The bearing set tolerates a load of 40 lb radially and 30 lb axially, helping prevent premature wear when belts or couplings impose side loads on fan or pump shafts. Dynamic drag remains low because running torque is limited to 4.5 oz-in, minimizing the additional load placed on the drive train. Breakaway friction remains below 5.0 oz-in, supporting smooth startup when the connected shaft begins rotating. With a rotor inertia of only 7.9 × 10⁻⁴ oz-in-sec², the encoder adds little rotational mass and preserves system responsiveness during rapid speed changes and emergency stops.
