Product Description:
The HS35R10248AC6PS is a hollow-shaft rotary encoder manufactured by Danaher as part of the Dynapar Encoders series. It installs over a 5/8-inch bore and delivers incremental position feedback that motion controllers use for closed-loop speed regulation, position verification, and homing cycles on conveyors, presses, and material-handling axes. Through-bore mounting keeps the sensing element concentric with the driven shaft, and the compact body allows the unit to fit where flange-mounted encoders are not practical.
The housing carries a NEMA 4/IP66 rating, so the interior is sealed against airborne dust and powerful water jets. The signal electronics support output frequencies of up to 100 kHz, providing ample headroom for high-speed counting. Mechanical limits allow continuous operation at up to 3600 rpm; beyond that point, bearing life and pulse fidelity can degrade. Each revolution generates 1024 PPR, supplying fine angular resolution for precise velocity profiling. Despite the rugged enclosure, the mass remains limited to 16 oz, which minimizes the load placed on small motors. An LED output indicator confirms power and signal presence, and a seven-pin connector with an attached mating half provides quick termination during installation. The moment of inertia is 7.9 × 10⁻⁴ oz-in-s², so acceleration of the sensing disk does not noticeably affect drive performance. A shaft bore tolerance of +0.0003/+0.0005 in ensures a secure fit.
The encoder endures an axial shaft load of 30 lb and a radial shaft load of 40 lb, allowing direct coupling to sprockets or belt pulleys without auxiliary supports. Running torque is limited to a maximum of 4.5 oz-in, while starting torque peaks at only 5.0 oz-in, so the device adds negligible drag during machine startup or coast-down. These low-friction values preserve motor efficiency, while the controlled shaft tolerance and through-bore design maintain alignment under vibration and thermal cycling.
