Product Description:
The HS35R10248442 is a hollow-shaft incremental encoder produced by Danaher within the Dynapar Encoders series. It mounts directly on a motor or line shaft to translate rotary motion into square-wave signals that a drive, PLC, or motion controller can count for speed or position feedback. In industrial automation, the unit supplies accurate pulse information for closing velocity loops, indexing conveyors, and synchronizing multi-axis machines without mechanical cams. Its hollow-shaft arrangement also eliminates the need for a separate shaft coupling between the encoder and the rotating equipment.
The encoder accepts a shaft through its 5/8-inch bore and produces minimal drag because its running torque is limited to 4.5 oz-in, while its starting torque does not exceed 5.0 oz-in. Its resolution is 1024 PPR, meaning each full revolution generates 1,024 quadrature pulses for medium-resolution control tasks. A 5–26 V line driver (7272) output stage supplies complementary signals that tolerate electrical noise and support long cable runs. The maximum mechanical speed is 3600 rpm, and the internal electronics provide a frequency response of at least 100 kHz to maintain signal-edge integrity during rapid rotation. The enclosure has a sealing rating of NEMA 4/IP66, protecting the internal optics from dust and high-pressure water jets. The aluminum rotor has a moment of inertia of 7.9 × 10⁻⁴ oz-in-s², which keeps the dynamic load on the host motor low. The encoder weighs less than 16 oz, reducing the additional mass supported by the motor assembly.
Mechanical loading limits include a 40 lb radial shaft load and a 30 lb axial shaft thrust, allowing direct mounting without separate bearings in many applications. A keyed hub secures the encoder to the shaft, while a clamp ring maintains concentric alignment and prevents slippage that could corrupt pulse counts. Connection to the control hardware is provided through a 10-pin connector, allowing the cable to be disconnected without disturbing the encoder mounting. This connection arrangement also keeps the signal conductors organized when the encoder is installed near motors, conveyors, or processing rolls.
