Product Description:
The HS35R102483CJ hollow-shaft encoder is manufactured by Danaher for the Dynapar Encoders series. It is an incremental device that slides over a rotating shaft and converts angular motion into digital pulse trains used by drives and PLCs. The resulting feedback supports closed-loop speed or position control in conveyors, winders, and material-handling axes. This self-contained hub eliminates flexible couplings, shortens alignment time, and allows the compact housing to fit inside standard C-face motor end bells.
The mechanical interface uses a 5/8 in hollow bore held within a +0.0003/+0.0005 in tolerance so the code wheel remains concentric with the host shaft. An 8-pin M12 connector routes differential quadrature channels, an index pulse, and 5 V power through a single locking plug. With a NEMA 4 / IP66 enclosure, the unit resists dust, oil, and washdown spray in plant environments. Internal optics support a minimum response frequency of 100 kHz, allowing clear separation of edges even when the rotor reaches its 3600 rpm limit. The optical disk provides 1024 PPR, and because the encoder is incremental, the controller establishes zero by homing to the external machine reference. The permitted mating shaft runout is ±0.025 in, maintaining stable gap spacing between the sensor and disk.
Operating drag is restricted to 4.5 oz-in of running torque, while startup requires no more than 5.0 oz-in. The bearings accept continuous loads of 40 lb radial and 30 lb axial. Interface stability is preserved with up to ±0.050 in of shaft endplay. The encoder weighs less than 16 oz, keeping additional inertia low in motor or gearbox installations. These load and torque limits help prevent excessive stress on the host shaft bearings during continuous rotation. The allowed shaft endplay also accommodates limited axial movement without disrupting the optical gap between the sensor and disk.
