Product Description:
The HS35R10248040 is a hollow-shaft incremental encoder produced by Danaher in the Dynapar Encoders series. By mounting directly on a motor or machine shaft, it converts rotation into digital pulse trains for speed regulation, position verification, and direction sensing within industrial automation systems such as variable-frequency drives, web tension controls, and packaging indexers. The device uses an optical code disk and differential line drivers to deliver quadrature signals that remain stable in electrically noisy environments.
With a resolution of 1024 PPR, the encoder delivers 1,024 pulses per revolution, giving controllers a positional granularity of approximately 0.35 degrees before interpolation. The input stage accepts a supply range of 4.5 to 26 VDC, allowing the same model to operate from TTL rails or the 24 V control power commonly used in cabinets. The encoder has a maximum current draw of 100 mA, which simplifies control-power planning. Signal conditioning provides a minimum frequency response of 100 kHz, supporting accurate pulse counting as the shaft approaches its upper speed limit. The enclosure meets NEMA 4/IP66 requirements, protecting the internal optics against directed water spray, airborne dust, and incidental oil mist on the factory floor.
The mechanical interface uses a 5/8-inch through bore that slips over the host shaft. Concentricity is maintained by a bore tolerance of +0.0003/+0.0005 inch and installation hardware that limits mating shaft runout to ±0.025 inch and end play to ±0.050 inch. The rotating assembly withstands a radial load of 40 lb and an axial load of 30 lb while operating at a maximum speed of 3,600 rpm. Startup friction is limited to 5 oz-in, allowing small servo motors to turn the disk without excessive torque demand. The unit weighs 16 oz and can be stored at temperatures from −40 °C to +90 °C. It is supplied fully assembled with an integral tether and connector for attachment and signal wiring.
