Product Description:
The HS35R0900P379 hollow-shaft encoder is built by Danaher as part of the Dynapar Encoders series. As an incremental feedback device, it converts mechanical rotation into pulse trains that let motion controllers monitor shaft position and speed in industrial automation systems such as packaging lines, material-handling drives, and process conveyors. Its compact form fits over a motor or gear-reducer shaft, while a flexible tether prevents housing rotation and allows quick, backlash-free installation.
Inside the unit, the code disk provides 900 pulses per revolution, giving the controller fine positional detail during every revolution. The output electronics sustain a minimum throughput of 100 kHz, so pulse integrity is maintained even near the encoder’s maximum speed. Edge fidelity is preserved with a maximum rise-and-fall time of 1 µs, supporting high-speed counters that require clean transitions. Supply current is limited to 100 mA maximum, reducing heat generation in sealed cabinets. The housing meets NEMA 4/IP66 protection requirements, resisting dust and hose-directed water. Incremental quadrature tracks are phased within 90° ± 22.5° electrical. The hollow bore is machined with a +0.0003/+0.0005-inch tolerance, allowing it to slide over standard motor shafts without excessive clearance.
A starting torque of 5.0 oz-in is needed to overcome static friction, while running drag drops to 4.5 oz-in maximum to minimize the load on the drive train. The bearings sustain 40 lb of radial force and 30 lb of axial force, allowing the encoder to accommodate forces associated with direct shaft installation. The rotating member may reach 3600 rpm maximum without excessive internal heat or vibration buildup. Total mass is limited to 16 oz maximum, easing support by lightweight mounting brackets and limiting inertial stress during rapid acceleration. The flexible tether accommodates minor alignment variation between the encoder housing and its mounting point. This arrangement prevents the housing from turning while allowing the hollow shaft to follow the connected equipment accurately.
