Product Description:
The HS35R0240H34E belongs to the Dynapar Encoders series manufactured by Danaher. It is a hollow-shaft incremental encoder intended to deliver position and speed feedback for motors, conveyors, and other rotating machinery in industrial automation. By translating shaft movement into digital pulse trains, the device lets controllers track angular displacement, confirm rotation direction, and coordinate multiple axes without mechanical linkage. Its compact form factor fits inside guarded enclosures or mounts directly on a drive shaft, providing real-time data needed for precise closed-loop control.
This encoder supplies a resolution of 240 PPR, so each output pulse corresponds to 1.5° of mechanical rotation. Internal circuitry handles pulse rates up to 100 kHz, maintaining count integrity when the shaft turns as fast as 3600 rpm. Output channels are protected in a housing rated at NEMA 4/IP66, sealing the optics against airborne dust and directed water. Power demand does not exceed 100 mA, allowing the unit to be powered from standard 5 or 12 V encoder inputs. Quadrature phasing is confined to 90° ±22.5° electrical, symmetry is held within 180° ±18°, and a reference index occupies 180° ±18°, enabling drives to locate an absolute zero during each revolution. Starting torque is limited to 5.0 oz-in, and overall mass remains under 16 oz, minimizing inertial loading on small motors.
The bore tolerance is +0.0003/+0.0005 in, providing a snug, concentric fit on the host shaft without forcing. During operation, the running torque stays below 4.5 oz-in, so drag on the drivetrain is negligible. The mechanical design withstands an axial force of 30 lb and a radial force of 40 lb, supporting belt tension or coupling misalignment without shortening bearing life. Low rotational friction reduces drag during continuous operation, while precise electrical phasing supports accurate counting during frequent reversals or moderate vibration.
