Product Description:
The HS35R00508220 is a hollow-shaft incremental encoder produced by Danaher within the Dynapar Encoders series. In motion-control systems, it mounts directly on a motor or gearbox shaft and converts mechanical rotation into electrical pulses. A controller counts these pulses to obtain position or speed feedback, enabling closed-loop regulation in conveyors, winders, and servo axes. The hollow-shaft arrangement eliminates the need for a separate coupling, which helps reduce the space required between the encoder and the rotating equipment.
A 5/8-inch bore slips over the driven shaft and is secured by a split hub. The small bore keeps rotor mass low and contributes to a starting torque of only 5.0 oz-in. Each revolution produces 50 pulses per revolution, providing moderate resolution for web-tension monitoring or pump-speed verification. Signal lines use a push-pull output driver that can source and sink up to 40 mA, making the encoder compatible with typical high-speed PLC inputs. The logic electronics draw no more than 100 mA from a supply ranging from 5 V to 26 V. A minimum frequency response of 100 kHz allows the encoder to maintain accurate pulse counts when rapid acceleration increases the signal edge rate. The NEMA 4/IP66 enclosure blocks dust and resists water spray. Its internal rotor has a moment of inertia of 7.9 × 10⁻⁴ oz-in-s², limiting dynamic loading on small-frame motors.
The encoder supports continuous rotation at a maximum speed of 3600 rpm. It tolerates an axial shaft thrust of 30 lb and a radial side load of 40 lb without bearing damage, accommodating belt-driven arrangements in which misalignment can create lateral forces. Overall mass is limited to a maximum of 16 oz, so the unit places little additional load on its mounting structure. Quadrature AB output signals include an index channel in ABZ format, allowing downstream counters to track direction and establish a reference position. The low starting torque minimizes drag on the connected shaft, while the push-pull circuitry helps maintain signal integrity across long cable runs without adding significant mechanical load to the motor.
