Product Description:
The HS35R00128220 is a hollow-shaft incremental encoder built by Danaher for the Dynapar Encoders series. It mounts directly on a motor or machine shaft and converts mechanical rotation into square-wave pulses that a PLC or drive can count, providing speed and position feedback in automated equipment such as conveyors, winders, and printing presses. Direct alignment with the driven shaft eliminates the need for a coupling and reduces the space required for installation. This mounting arrangement also reduces the number of mechanical interfaces between the rotating shaft and the feedback device.
The encoder has a resolution of 128 PPR, so each full turn produces 128 pulse cycles on the A and B channels, while the Z channel delivers a single index pulse. These signals leave the encoder through a push-pull output in ABZ format, and the output driver supports frequencies up to 100 kHz. This switching frequency provides accurate feedback at shaft speeds up to 3600 rpm. The encoder electronics draw only 100 mA, limiting the load placed on the connected power supply. The housing carries a dual NEMA 4/IP66 ingress protection rating, sealing the code disk and optical components against oil spray and fine dust. Starting torque is limited to 5.0 oz-in, and running torque remains below 4.5 oz-in, keeping the parasitic load on small servo motors low.
The encoder can tolerate an axial shaft load of 30 lb and a radial shaft load of 40 lb, allowing its bearings to withstand belt tension or forces from overhung gears. Proper installation is supported by an allowable shaft endplay of ±0.050 in and a runout tolerance of ±0.025 in. Maintaining the shaft within these limits helps prevent code-disk wobble that could disrupt signal timing. Field wiring terminates through a 6-pin connector, providing a secure and accessible connection for power and signal conductors. Despite its stainless steel housing and integral bearings, the encoder has a maximum mass of 16 oz. Its low mass reduces the additional weight placed on lightweight motor housings and compact machine assemblies.
