Product Description:
The HS3515005121A is an incremental rotary encoder manufactured by Danaher for the Dynapar Encoders series. It installs on a machine shaft to translate mechanical rotation into electrical position and velocity signals needed by drives, PLCs, and motion counters. Through its quadrature A and B channels and index track, the unit allows controllers to register direction and establish a home reference, making it suitable for conveyor, winder, and packaging lines that require repeatable indexing.
Signal generation follows a single-ended ABZ format with an open-collector output stage that is internally connected to a 2.2 kΩ pull-up element. The control electronics are minimally loaded because the operating current is limited to a maximum of 100 mA. The device provides a minimum frequency response of 100 kHz, allowing signal transitions to be captured at elevated speeds. Its native resolution is 1500 PPR, providing 6,000 countable edges per revolution after quadrature decoding. These electrical characteristics remain consistent when the encoder is subjected to the stated 40 lb radial and 30 lb axial shaft loads and when it rotates within its rated speed range.
The encoder accepts a hollow shaft with a diameter of 10 mm and maintains a bore tolerance of +0.0003 to +0.0005 in for a secure fit. Mounting is completed by tightening a 3/8 in clamp screw through the hole positioned on the 5.88 in bolt circle. The rotor can turn continuously at up to 3600 rpm and introduces only 5.0 oz-in of starting torque, so its effect on motor acceleration is limited. The enclosure has a sealing rating of NEMA 4/IP66, protecting the encoder against dust ingress and high-pressure washdown fluids. A factory-attached cable measuring 18 in (0.5 m) routes the ABZ leads directly to the control cabinet, which simplifies installation in confined enclosures.
