Product Description:
The HS351024G3331 incremental encoder is produced by Danaher within the Dynapar Encoders series and installs on the fan cover of a motor to deliver position and speed feedback to a drive or PLC. The encoder mounts around the motor shaft without requiring a separate coupling. It converts mechanical rotation into electrical pulses that industrial controllers can use to synchronize motion or monitor machine throughput. This mounting method also keeps the feedback device close to the rotating equipment while conserving space around the motor.
The enclosure is rated at NEMA 4/IP66, so it blocks airborne dust and high-pressure water during washdown maintenance. A frequency response of 100 kHz minimum allows the electronics to process pulse trains from fast-turning equipment without losing edge integrity. The differential bidirectional signal pair operates at 5 VDC to match standard TTL logic levels. The optical disk provides 1024 PPR, or pulses per revolution, giving 4,096 quadrature counts when both edges of each channel are decoded for fine position interpolation. The maximum operating speed is 3600 rpm; within this limit, the bearings and code disk remain stable, while the maximum input current of 100 mA helps limit power dissipation inside the sealed enclosure.
The encoder uses a 7272 line driver, so each channel supplies complementary states that reject common-mode noise on long cable runs. Electrical connection is made through a 7-pin connector, avoiding the need to wire individual conductors into terminal blocks. The hollow shaft accommodates motors with a 1 in diameter extension, and the clamping hardware keeps the rotor concentric during rotation. Starting torque is limited to 5.0 oz-in maximum, minimizing additional load on the motor bearings. The encoder tolerates radial shaft loads up to 40 lb and axial shaft loads up to 30 lb. The index channel is omitted to reduce the channel count, and the total mass remains below 16 oz to avoid placing excessive stress on lightweight fan covers.
