Product Description:
The HS202540A034G is a hollow-shaft incremental rotary encoder produced by Danaher within the Dynapar Encoders series. Intended for mounting directly over a motor or machine shaft, it converts mechanical rotation into electrical quadrature signals that allow drives and PLCs to track position, speed, and direction without mechanical gearing. This feedback supports indexing tables, cut-to-length stations, and other motion sequences that require repeatable angular references in industrial automation systems. The device uses optical sensing to provide a stable output across a wide operating range.
The optical resolution is 2540 PPR, providing approximately 0.14 degrees of angular granularity per pulse. A balanced 5–26 V line driver supplies complementary A and B channel outputs, while the differential format helps maintain signal integrity over long cable runs. The encoder responds at frequencies up to 100 kHz, permitting accurate reporting when the shaft turns near its rated speed of 6000 rpm. Startup torque is limited to 12.0 oz-in, helping small servomotors accelerate without excessive resistance. The glass code disc and complementary channel pairs minimize cyclic error. A moment of inertia of 5.1 × 10⁻⁴ oz-in-s² keeps dynamic loading low on the host shaft.
A sealed NEMA 4/IP65 housing blocks airborne contaminants and low-pressure water jets. The electronics draw only 100 mA at the highest supply voltage, helping limit heat generation during operation. A molded pigtail with a 13-inch cable carries power and differential output signals to the connected drive or controller. The hollow shaft accepts a 16 mm mating stub and permits ±0.050 inches of axial endplay. It also requires a minimum insertion depth of 0.80 inches and accommodates ±0.005 inches of radial runout, allowing installation without custom spacers. These permitted shaft movements help reduce bearing stress while maintaining consistent signal transmission during continuous operation.
