Product Description:
The HS20006083120 incremental encoder is manufactured by Danaher for the Dynapar Encoders series. It is a hollow-shaft feedback device that converts motor rotation into timed square-wave signals used by drives and PLCs to close velocity or position loops in industrial machinery. Its compact body slides over the motor shaft, reducing installation time and keeping backlash low in tightly regulated motion axes. The hollow-shaft arrangement also eliminates the need for a separate shaft coupling between the encoder and motor.
Electrical compatibility spans supply voltages from 5 VDC to 26 VDC, allowing both TTL and higher-voltage input cards to power the sensor. A frequency response of at least 100 kHz allows the electronics to process the edge rate generated as the shaft approaches its maximum speed of 6000 rpm. The stainless-steel bore measures 5/8 in, matching common NEMA frame shafts, while the slotted-hole mounting style permits precise radial alignment. Output drivers use a push-pull topology, delivering complementary logic states that support the single-ended AB signal format. Maximum axial end play is limited to 0.050 in, and shaft runout must remain below 0.005 in for reliable coupling. The encoder requires at least 0.80 in of shaft engagement to maintain stable mechanical contact during rotation. The rotor has a moment of inertia of 5.1 × 10⁻⁴ oz-in-s², helping limit the added rotational load on the motor shaft.
The required breakaway torque is only 12.0 oz-in, allowing the motor to accelerate without noticeable lag from the encoder. During normal operation, the unit generates 60 pulses per revolution, providing a consistent count for drive controllers that monitor speed or position. Power and the A and B output channels pass through a 6-pin connector, which keeps the electrical connections in one keyed plug and helps prevent incorrect orientation. The encoder does not provide an index channel, simplifying counting circuits in applications that only require incremental A and B signals.
