Product Description:
The HR5250100850L is an incremental rotary encoder produced by Danaher for the Dynapar Encoders series. The unit installs with a flange mount and a 3/8-inch shaft, so it can be coupled directly to motors, gearboxes, or line shafts. By translating rotation into two phased pulse channels plus an index, it supplies deterministic position and velocity data to drives and PLC high-speed inputs used in material handling, packaging, and general automation.
The encoder delivers 850 PPR; each revolution therefore produces 850 equally spaced pulses that a controller can scale to fine positional units. A minimum signal bandwidth of 100 kHz allows accurate counting even when the shaft approaches the specified mechanical limit. Signal switching is performed through an open-collector output with a 2.2 kΩ pull-up resistor, making the outputs compatible with 5- to 24-volt logic while simplifying line termination. Digital edges appear within <1 µs, limiting propagation delay in tight feedback loops. Electrical symmetry is maintained at 180° ± 18° electrical, so the duty cycle remains close to 50%, which simplifies phase-locked detection. Quadrature phasing of 90° ± 22.5° electrical preserves correct channel separation, and the single-ended format includes a dedicated index pulse for homing routines.
The shaft can rotate at up to 10,000 rpm without exceeding the bearing design limits. The sealed housing meets NEMA 12 / IP54, guarding the internal optics against settled dust and moderate splashing. The electronics draw only 80 mA from the supply rail, reducing heat generation in densely packed panels. The bearings tolerate a combined load of 80 lb radial / 80 lb axial, so belt tension or coupler misalignment is less likely to shorten service life. Additional provisions include 0.001-inch total indicated runout at the shaft for smooth motion, a six-foot cable that simplifies routing to the control cabinet, and a flange register that maintains concentric alignment during installation.
