Product Description:
The HR52501000640 is an incremental optical rotary encoder produced by Danaher for the Dynapar Encoders series. This feedback device bolts onto motors or machine frames and converts each shaft revolution into a train of digital pulses so controllers can calculate speed, direction, and displacement in real time. By supplying consistent pulse information across a variety of duty cycles, the encoder supports closed-loop regulation in packaging stations, conveyors, and pick-and-place axes where a loss of synchronization can damage products or tooling.
A flange mounting face centers the body and secures the stator, while the shaft is protected by a NEMA 12/IP54-rated enclosure that excludes dust and splashed fluids. The sensing electronics resolve one turn into 100 PPR, and the amplifier chain maintains clean signal edges at frequencies up to 100 kHz so high-speed counting modules can process the output reliably. A 7272 line driver generates complementary A and B channels in Format C with a differential layout and no index channel. The driver can source or sink 40 mA to downstream receivers while drawing only 80 mA from the 5 V supply. This differential signaling arrangement helps preserve pulse quality across longer cable runs and reduces the effects of electrical noise in industrial machinery.
The stainless-steel shaft has a diameter of 3/8 in and is limited to 0.001 in of radial runout, supporting accurate alignment with the connected machine. It may rotate at speeds up to 10,000 rpm without exceeding the bearing limits. Low rotor inertia of 3.0 × 10⁻⁴ oz-in-s² minimizes the drive torque required during acceleration and helps the encoder follow rapid changes in shaft speed. The end-mounted connector provides rear access to the termination, allowing the encoder to fit installations where clearance around the housing perimeter is limited. The unit has an overall mass of 1.5 lb, which keeps the overhung load on the host motor low and simplifies mounting of the sealed housing.
