Product Description:
The Danaher Dynapar Encoders series model HC52536000240 is a flange-mounted incremental rotary encoder. It converts mechanical shaft rotation into a train of electrical pulses so that drives, PLCs, or distributed I/O systems can monitor position and speed in automated equipment. By mounting directly on a motor or intermediate shaft, the unit provides real-time feedback that supports closed-loop control for conveyors, material-handling axes, and general-purpose machinery. Its flange-mounted design also provides a stable mechanical interface for applications that require consistent alignment between the encoder and the rotating equipment.
The NEMA 12/IP54 enclosure blocks dust ingress and resists splashed fluids commonly found on factory floors. The logic circuits accept a supply range of 5–26 VDC, allowing the encoder to share power rails with a variety of controllers. Pulse information is produced at frequencies up to 250 kHz, so high-speed counters can resolve fast transients without missing edges. Even at the maximum speed of 10,000 rpm, the internal electronics generate a clean 50% duty cycle. The optical disk provides 3,600 PPR, offering fine angular resolution for precise position and speed measurements. The encoder does not include an index channel, and a 10-pin MS connector on the end bell simplifies cable connection.
The drive circuitry uses a differential line driver output, delivering balanced A and B channels that tolerate long cable runs and reduce electromagnetic interference. A stainless-steel shaft with a diameter of 3/8 in. couples to the host machine through set screws or flexible couplings. Starting resistance is limited to 1.0 oz-in. of torque, which reduces the mechanical load applied when rotation begins. The rotor inertia is only 2.83 × 10^-4 oz-in-s², helping servo systems accelerate rapidly without adding substantial resistance to the connected shaft. Continuous operation is permitted from 0 to +70 °C. During storage, the internal components can withstand temperatures from −40 to +90 °C without a loss of performance.
