Product Description:
The H52048LJ04CL is an incremental rotary encoder produced by Danaher within the Dynapar Encoders series. Designed for industrial automation tasks, the unit converts shaft rotation into square-wave electrical pulses that a motion controller counts to determine position and speed. The encoder mounts to a machine shaft through a hollow bore and relays differential signals over a shielded cable. It supplies real-time feedback for closed-loop drives, conveyor indexing, and coordinated multi-axis systems.
The mechanical interface is a hollow bore measuring 5/8 in, allowing direct coupling to a supported motor or line shaft without additional adapters. Internal optics generate 2048 pulses per revolution, providing high-resolution counts for each full turn. The signal bandwidth supports a maximum output rate of 120 kHz, which helps prevent pulse clipping at high operating speeds. The encoder uses a 4428 differential line driver that provides complementary A and B channels for improved noise immunity over long cable runs. The electronics typically draw 45 mA, while the separate LED stage requires 150 mA of drive current.
The maximum shaft speed is 3,600 rpm, and the allowable acceleration is 3,600 rpm/s. The assembly has a starting torque of 7 in-oz, minimizing the mechanical load placed on small servo motors. Radial accuracy is supported by 0.015 in TIR runout and an axial end-play tolerance of ±0.150 in. The minimum shaft insertion depth is 2.0 in, which keeps the bearings fully engaged during operation. The enclosure withstands up to 30 G of shock. No index signal is provided, while the primary output channels remain available for position and speed measurements. Cabling exits through a 1/2 in NPT conduit port and terminates in a latching industrial connector that provides a secure electrical connection.
