Product Description:
The F144096/063XZ20 incremental rotary encoder is manufactured by Danaher for the Dynapar Encoders series. This optical feedback element attaches to a motor or actuator shaft and converts mechanical rotation into two phase-shifted square-wave channels. These channels provide motion controllers with precise information about speed, direction, and incremental position, allowing them to close velocity or position loops in automated machinery.
The encoder operates from a regulated supply of 5 VDC ±10%. Its internal line driver sources up to 40 mA maximum on each channel, enabling direct connection to high-speed differential receivers. The optical sensing path supports a 500 kHz frequency response, so the two output tracks toggle cleanly even when the shaft reaches 12,000 rpm. Each mechanical revolution is divided into 4096 PPR, supplying controllers with fine incremental resolution for accurate interpolation. Channel A leads channel B by 90°, and a minimum edge separation of 45° maintains reliable decoding at the rated speed. Because the unit provides no commutation tracks, it suits applications where absolute phase information for brushless motors is unnecessary. Signal generation is differential and uses a 26LC31 driver connected to a 16-pin, 2 mm header, simplifying ribbon cable routing inside control enclosures.
The encoder is housed in a NEMA 1 / IP40 enclosure that shields the optics from incidental contact and airborne debris found in panels. The sensor module withstands shocks up to 100 G for 6 ms, and its low rotor inertia of 5.8 g-cm² adds minimal load to high-acceleration drives. Total supply consumption does not exceed 150 mA maximum, allowing several encoders to share a common 5 V rail when sufficient current is available. A tether ring with a 2 × M2.5 pattern on a 30 mm diameter prevents the stator from rotating and reduces cable stress. The optical pickup operates without magnetic drag. Differential signaling improves resistance to electrical noise across long cable runs.
