Product Description:
The E2312300X4X02 is an incremental optical encoder produced by Danaher for the Dynapar Encoders series. In automated machinery, the unit mounts to a rotating shaft and converts mechanical position into proportional electrical pulses, allowing drive controllers to track speed, direction, and index locations with digital precision. The aluminum housing is sealed to the NEMA 12 / IP54 level, protecting the glass code disc and optical detectors from airborne dust and splashing fluids. This enclosure supports installation near machine processes where moderate exposure to contaminants is expected.
The output electronics process signals at frequencies up to 100 kHz, enabling feedback from high-speed spindles without pulse loss. A maximum transition time of 1 µs produces sharp signal edges that simplify drive filtering and timing capture. The rotor and disc assembly has an inertia of only 3.7 × 10⁻⁴ oz-in-s², minimizing its effect on acceleration profiles. Mechanical rotation is limited to a maximum speed of 5,000 rpm. The optical sensors provide A and B channels separated by 90 degrees, along with an index channel for detecting a reference position during each revolution. Electrical rise and fall symmetry remains within 180° ±9°, keeping duty-cycle variations within typical counter tolerances.
The stainless-steel shaft has a diameter of 1/4 in and can be secured with a compatible clamping coupling. Startup friction is low because only 0.2 oz-in of torque is required to overcome the bearing seal, reducing resistance in low-power motion axes. The supported axial and radial loads are each limited to 5 lb, protecting the shaft, bearings, and glass disc from excessive mechanical stress. Quadrature spacing remains within 90° ±18°, allowing connected controls to detect rotational direction reliably despite normal temperature changes and signal variation. The glass disc and optical sensor pair generate digital pulse trains suitable for PLC counting, servo-loop feedback, speed measurement, and position monitoring in general industrial automation.
