Product Description:
The E231024193X09 is an incremental rotary encoder manufactured by Danaher for the Dynapar Encoders series. It converts shaft rotation into two phased electrical channels that allow controllers to determine direction and displacement. The device mounts directly to fractional-horsepower motors or small linear actuators, providing closed-loop positioning without adding bulky gearboxes or optical scales.
This model is built inside a steel enclosure sealed to NEMA 12/IP54, so airborne oil and limited splashing will not reach the optical disk. The sensing electronics provide a minimum frequency response of 100 kHz, enabling reliable edge detection during rapid acceleration. The continuous service temperature range is 0 to +70 °C, so cabinet cooling is unnecessary in typical factory environments. Output signals are supplied by a 5 V line driver (7272) that produces complementary A and B signals. This output stage supports differential receivers over long cable runs and maintains signal integrity in areas with electrical noise. Each revolution has a resolution of 1024 pulses per revolution, providing 4,096 quadrature counts for mid-resolution speed loops and moderate positioning accuracy.
The nickel-plated shaft measures 1/4 inch in diameter, is supported by sealed bearings, and can rotate at speeds up to 5,000 rpm without exceeding its dynamic limit. Starting friction is limited to 0.2 oz-in maximum, so the encoder places minimal mechanical load on small stepper or servo motors. Radial and axial forces must remain below the stated 5 lb limit to prevent premature bearing wear. The device operates from a 5–26 VDC supply while drawing no more than 80 mA, allowing direct connection to most motion drives. Signals use Format C with a differential topology. The encoder does not include an index channel, which simplifies wiring when a once-per-revolution reference pulse is unnecessary.
