Product Description:
The Ai2512133X22X02 is an absolute rotary encoder designed by Danaher within the Dynapar Encoders series. The unit converts mechanical shaft position into a digital output that automation controllers can sample for precise closed-loop motion. It is intended for mounting on motor or gearbox ends where continuous multi-turn tracking is needed, ensuring machinery such as conveyors, gantries, and packaging tables maintains an exact angular reference during power cycles. A hub shaft interface with an external tether simplifies installation by eliminating couplings and reducing alignment error. This arrangement also minimizes slip under acceleration.
The encoder has an absolute accuracy of ±0.01° mechanical, so the reported angle deviates by no more than one-hundredth of a degree from the actual shaft position. Short-term consistency is even tighter, with repeatability held to ±0.002° mechanical, allowing the same angle to be reproduced across successive readings. The encoder provides 13-bit single-turn data while tracking revolutions with an additional 12-bit counter, offering fine resolution for interpolated velocity or position loops. High-speed applications are supported because the internal code disc can rotate at up to 10,000 rpm without signal loss. The electronics draw only 250 mA from the 5 V supply, reducing the load on backplane regulators.
The mechanical package uses a hub shaft and tether arrangement that clamps to the machine shaft while a flexible arm prevents the housing from rotating. Aluminum construction keeps the mass low while shielding the sensor from electromagnetic interference. The encoder tolerates axial shaft movement of up to ±1.5 mm and radial play of ±0.2 mm without degrading optical alignment, making the device compatible with standard C-face motors. Startup drag remains below 1.4 in-oz, allowing small servo motors to accelerate freely. The encoder transmits position data in binary format, simplifying decoding with FPGA or microcontroller logic. Its overall mass is 400 g, reducing the support required when the unit is mounted in a cantilevered position at the end of a drive train.
