Product Description:
The AI2512122B92F is an absolute rotary encoder produced by Danaher as part of the Dynapar Encoders series. With optical sensing and an integrated multi-turn counter, the unit provides position feedback to motion controllers in packaging machines, gantries, and material-handling axes. By delivering a coded shaft position rather than incremental pulses, the device simplifies homing routines after power loss and increases system uptime. Its compact housing and servo-flange mounting allow direct coupling to motors or lead screws, making the encoder suitable for space-constrained automation cells.
The housing is sealed to IP67, so the internal optics remain protected against dust ingress and temporary liquid immersion. Position data and power are exchanged through DeviceNet V2.0, enabling multi-node bus wiring with standardized object classes. A single-turn digital word is generated with a 12-bit resolution, providing precise position information throughout each revolution. The absolute position accuracy is maintained within ±0.01° mechanical, while the binary output has a linearity within ±½ LSB. The shaft can operate continuously at up to 10,000 rpm, and a peak speed of 12,000 rpm is permissible for brief transients.
The bus current consumption is limited to 250 mA, allowing multiple sensors to share a common supply rail. The stainless-steel shaft withstands an axial force of 40 N and a radial force of 60 N without degrading bearing life, while starting torque remains below 1.4 in-oz to minimize drivetrain drag. Repeatability of ±0.002° mechanical supports tight registration tasks such as print-mark alignment. Installation is supported by a 3/8-inch shaft diameter and a body depth of 73.8 mm to the rear cover. The internal counter tracks 4,096 complete rotations, preserving multi-turn position information for extended machine travel.
