Product Description:
The 62-PMDF1000-XA-41 is an incremental rotary encoder produced by Danaher within the Dynapar Encoders series. Designed for closed-loop motion platforms, the unit converts mechanical rotation into precise quadrature signals so controllers can track position and speed in industrial automation systems such as web tension stations, indexing tables, and servo drives. It mounts directly to a machine shaft and provides timing information that enables accurate closed-loop control.
Mechanically, the encoder tolerates an axial shaft load of 15 lb and a starting torque of 15 oz-in, permitting direct coupling without auxiliary bearings. Rotor inertia is limited to 285 g-cm² to minimize response lag at high acceleration. With a rated resolution of 1000 PPR, the internal code disk delivers fine incremental counts while staying within a maximum slew speed of 3600 rpm. The optical pickup tracks those counts up to a frequency response of 50 kHz, so edge fidelity is maintained even at the top mechanical speed. Quadrature AB signals are presented as a differential output, and phase sense is specified as A leading B in the clockwise direction, giving predictable timing for velocity calculations. Bidirectional rotation sensing is inherent to the quadrature format, allowing controllers to detect forward and reverse travel without extra hardware.
Electrical characteristics establish the interface and installation limits. The line driver can source up to 40 mA per channel, while the total electronics draw remains within a supply current of 115 mA. A radial shaft load rating of 45 lb protects the bearings when pulleys or belts are tensioned on the 5/8 in shaft. That shaft is machined as a single piece with a keyway to prevent slippage under cyclical torque. Encapsulated optics and a cast housing bring the overall encoder mass to 10 lb, allowing the unit to be mounted to fixed brackets without additional supports.
