Product Description:
The 62-AADF-1000-A0 incremental encoder is produced by Danaher within the Dynapar Encoders series. It attaches directly to a motor or line shaft and converts rotation into precise electrical pulses that drives, PLCs, and motion controllers use to verify speed and position in industrial automation systems such as packaging lines, material-handling conveyors, and indexing tables. Its sealed bearing design supports demanding plant environments while keeping installation straightforward. Because it generates digital quadrature signals, the unit enables bidirectional counting without additional sensors.
The encoder delivers a resolution of 1000 PPR, producing one thousand evenly spaced pulse cycles for every mechanical revolution and allowing downstream electronics to detect small changes in position. These pulses are arranged in a two-channel quadrature format so that direction can be determined from the phase relationship between channels A and B. A bandwidth of 50 kHz allows accurate counting when the shaft speed reaches its mechanical limit of 3600 rpm. The differential line driver provides balanced output signals for noise rejection across long cable runs. The driver can source or sink 40 mA, which is sufficient for the optically isolated inputs used by many controllers. A 5/8-inch stainless-steel shaft interface mates directly with standard couplings, and starting torque is limited to 15 oz-in to minimize the load on sensitive mechanisms. Optical tracks are etched on a Mylar disc, reducing weight and resisting humidity. Signals exit through an MS connector that provides a secure electrical connection.
The mechanical section can withstand an axial thrust of 15 lb and a side load of 45 lb, helping protect the bearings from coupling misalignment or belt tension. Its inertia of 285 gm-cm² limits stored rotational energy and helps keep acceleration time short. The housing meets NEMA 12 / IP54, protecting the internal components from dust, dirt, and splashing water. Overall mass is 10 lb, and the design omits a marker channel to simplify the internal optical assembly and reduce the component count.
