Product Description:
The 62-AADF-0900-A0 is an incremental optical encoder manufactured by Danaher for the Dynapar Encoders series. It mounts on a rotating shaft and produces square-wave feedback pulses so motion controllers can monitor position and speed in real time. Intended for general-purpose industrial automation, the device routes its power and signal lines through an MS circular connector that allows the encoder to be connected or disconnected without rewiring.
The encoder delivers a resolution of 900 PPR, giving 0.4 degrees of detectable movement per pulse, which supports precise positioning over moderate travel lengths. A bandwidth of 50 kHz lets the receiving electronics count pulses accurately at high rotational rates, while the mechanical design supports speeds up to 3600 rpm. The internal LED and photodiode circuits have a maximum current draw of 115 mA plus load current, which must be considered when selecting the power supply and evaluating heat accumulation inside sealed cabinets. Differential line drivers provide a differential output that resists electromagnetic noise and allows long-distance transmission to remote drives or PLCs. The AB signal format establishes quadrature phasing so the controller can determine the direction of rotation from the relationship between the two output channels.
A sink or source capacity of 40 mA lets the encoder interface with compatible TTL or HTL receivers without external buffers. The solid shaft measures 5/8 inch, matching many NEMA motor flanges, and the starting torque is only 15 oz-in, minimizing the additional load placed on small servo bearings. The encoder weighs 10 lb, and its rotor inertia of 285 g-cm² must be considered when calculating acceleration for lightly loaded axes. Because the encoder has no shaft seals, it must be installed in an enclosure that protects the internal optical components from fluid ingress. Adequate alignment between the encoder shaft and the driven equipment also helps prevent excessive bearing loads and preserves consistent pulse generation during operation.
