Product Description:
The 62-AADF-0600-AB encoder is built by Danaher as part of the Dynapar Encoders series. This incremental optical device provides quadrature (AB) pulse feedback that a motion controller counts to calculate position and velocity. By mounting directly on a motor or conveyor shaft, it delivers real-time information that supports closed-loop speed regulation, indexing, and homing in automated equipment such as packaging machines, machine tools, and material-handling lines. The unit uses light-interrupter technology to generate clean transitions, and its output follows the standard quadrature format for straightforward integration with most drive amplifiers and PLC high-speed counters.
Electrical performance centers on a resolution of 600 PPR, meaning six hundred equally spaced pulses are produced during every mechanical revolution. A frequency response of 50 kHz lets the receiver track counts at high rotational speeds without losing edges, while clockwise rotation uses a phase relationship in which channel A leads channel B. The output stage can deliver up to 40 mA sink or source current per channel, and the complementary-pair architecture uses a differential line driver to provide noise immunity over long cables. The sensing head tolerates shaft speeds up to 3600 rpm and requires a minimum free path of 12.5% during each cycle to ensure accurate edge detection. A NEMA 4/IP66 housing seals the optics against dust and washdown fluids. Low rotor inertia of 285 g-cm² and a starting torque of 15 oz-in minimize additional loading on small servo motors.
The encoder supports an axial shaft load of 15 lb and a radial shaft load of 45 lb, allowing it to withstand thrust or belt tension without premature bearing wear. The stainless-steel shaft interface has a diameter of 5/8 in, allowing the encoder to mount directly to many compatible NEMA and IEC motor arrangements without adapters. The total assembly mass is 10 lb, which limits the amount of overhung weight added to the driven machine. Its load capacities support installation at the ends of gearboxes or pulley shafts. The sealed housing also permits operation in industrial areas where airborne debris or water spray may reach the mounted encoder.
