Product Description:
The 2210003A46 is a shaft-mounted feedback unit manufactured by Danaher as part of the Dynapar Encoders series. The model outputs two square-wave channels and an index marker so motion controllers can derive speed, direction, and a once-per-revolution reference from a rotating machine element. By delivering electrical position data without relying on a mechanical linkage, the encoder streamlines closed-loop regulation of servo motors, conveyors, and packaging actuators.
It connects through an 8-pin M12 connector that carries power, differential outputs, and the index pulse in a compact, sealed interface. The internal code disk provides 1000 PPR, allowing controllers to resolve 4,000 counts per revolution after 4x decoding. The electronics accept a supply of 5–26 VDC and draw a maximum of 110 mA, so the encoder can share a low-voltage fieldbus rail without overloading it. High-speed comparators deliver complementary CMOS signals rated for the same voltage range. The driver supports 120 kHz for data and 50 kHz for the index, preserving edge fidelity at elevated shaft speeds. Quadrature separation remains within 90° ±18°, providing adequate phase separation for accurate direction sensing. The single-ended 1/4-inch shaft simplifies coupling to small motors or tachometer wheels.
The maximum mechanical speed is 6000 rpm, with the limit governed by bearing life and code disk balance. The bearings support 40 lb of radial load and 30 lb of axial load, allowing the encoder to tolerate belt tension or light gear loads without excessive deflection. Startup friction remains low, with a maximum torque of 2.5 oz-in, which reduces the energy required during acceleration. Continuous operation is permitted at ambient temperatures from 0 to +70 °C, while storage is permitted from -40 to +90 °C without degradation. The differential signal format and index marker help reject common-mode noise, while the CMOS line driver maintains logic compatibility over long cable runs.
