The PS-3303I-E servo drive is produced by Danaher as part of the API Servo Drives series. It serves as the intermediary between plant-level control signals and the three-phase windings of a brushless motor, converting regulated mains power into modulated current while monitoring encoder and Hall feedback for closed-loop positioning. The unit is installed in automation cabinets where its compact format and integrated control logic simplify multi-axis machine configurations.
The power stage accepts 90–253 VAC on either single-phase or three-phase feeders and supports line frequencies from 47–63 Hz, allowing operation on global utility grids. Under continuous load, the drive can deliver 1.1 kW to the motor terminals, while internal logic and cooling require only 60 W of cabinet power. Two differential analog inputs permit velocity or torque commands within a range of ±10 VDC. The analog-to-digital converter has a 10-bit resolution, providing 1,024 discrete steps for setpoint scaling. Seven isolated digital inputs handle mode selection and fault resets, and two high-speed inputs accept transition levels from 3.5 to 7 VDC for capturing index or probe events. An additional pair of differential encoder channels and Hall tracks supplies real-time rotor position information to the current regulators.
Dissipative braking energy can be routed to an external resistor network capable of a 3 kW peak load and a 150 W continuous load at 47 Ω, preventing DC-bus overvoltage during rapid deceleration. The logic interface maintains signal integrity with an isolated control range of 5–30 VDC, enabling direct connection to PLC output cards without additional level shifters. The isolation barrier separates the command circuitry from electrical disturbances carried through other drive connections. The encoder and Hall feedback path remains referenced to the drive chassis, allowing the current regulators to track rotor position during motion.
