The 800-1817 is a digital loop module manufactured by Copley Controls within the XENUS Digital Loop Modules series. It operates as a compact servo drive that closes current and velocity loops for brushless or voice-coil motors. Separate regulation channels enable coordinated motion in industrial automation equipment, including semiconductor handlers, packaging axes, and laboratory positioning stages. The module integrates motor control and power conversion functions in a compact housing, reducing the number of separate components required inside the control enclosure.
This module supports two independent axes, each rated for a continuous output of 10 A and short-term peaks of up to 20 A. Power is derived from a mains input of 100–240 VAC, which can be supplied through either a single-phase or three-phase connection. The corresponding RMS line current is 18 Arms with a single-phase supply and 14 Arms with a three-phase supply. Internal power conversion generates a 373 VDC bus for each axis, supporting high-speed servo response. Command and diagnostic traffic can be exchanged through Ethernet, while an RS-232 serial port provides a separate connection for local configuration. The module accepts incremental encoders, resolvers, and Hall sensors for motor feedback, allowing the control loops to operate without additional feedback hubs.
The housing has an IP20 rating, so the module must be installed inside a protected control enclosure. Passive conduction surfaces remove heat during operation without requiring external fan trays. The mains input operates at a nominal frequency of 50/60 Hz, supporting common industrial power systems. The front panel provides two RJ-45 network sockets for daisy-chain connections, and activity LEDs display the network link status. With a weight of 1.90 kg, the drive can be mounted on a DIN rail without placing excessive load on cabinet hardware. Two feedback connectors and two motor connectors are positioned to keep high-current wiring short and separate it from sensitive signal paths. Input phase selection is configured through internal jumpers, allowing the same module to operate with supported supply arrangements.
