The 800-1628 module is a digital servo drive component produced by Copley Controls within the XENUS Digital Loop Modules series. Acting as the closed-loop current and position regulator between a motion controller and a brushless motor, it converts AC mains power into controlled motor phase currents and exchanges real-time status over a CANopen fieldbus. In industrial automation systems, it delivers precise torque, velocity, and position control for axes in assembly cells, test stands, and material-handling equipment. Its integrated brake driver and encoder interfaces remove the need for external boards, reducing panel complexity.
It accepts a single-phase or three-phase supply of 100–240 VAC, rectifies it, and delivers a continuous motor current of 5 A DC. Brief overloads of up to 10 A DC are tolerated during acceleration. Machine signals arrive through 14 optically isolated digital inputs and four digital outputs that drive relays or indicators. CANopen motion commands conform to the DSP-402 profile for standardized homing and fault handling. Regenerated energy is absorbed by the internal shunt, so no external resistor is needed. Sinusoidal encoder feedback is accepted at 1 V peak-to-peak differential, and the drive provides a 121 Ω termination. An overtemperature fault is indicated by a 4.99 kΩ pull-up, and the brake driver supplies 1 A DC to control the holding brake.
The housing measures 126 × 90 × 53 mm, permitting direct DIN-rail mounting inside compact enclosures. Motor-mounted secondary encoders can be sampled at up to 20 million counts per second, supporting high-resolution interpolation for linear stages. The brake output line has a maximum rating of +30 V DC, making it compatible with common spring-applied holding brakes. All network traffic moves over a physical layer that follows CAN V2.0b, enabling multi-axis coordination on the same twisted-pair bus. The compact housing requires little panel space and leaves room for airflow around neighboring equipment. DIN-rail installation also allows the module to be positioned near related control and power components while maintaining an orderly enclosure layout.
