The 800-1519A is a digital loop module manufactured by Copley Controls and assigned to the XENUS Digital Loop Modules series. Designed for multi-axis servo systems, the unit forms the current, velocity, and position control layers that sit between a higher-level motion controller and the motor power stage in industrial automation equipment. By executing these closed loops on its own processing core, the module offloads computational work from the main controller and allows deterministic regulation of motor torque and speed.
The power section can source a continuous armature current of 6 Adc, while overloads are supported up to 18 Adc for 1 s to handle rapid accelerations or impact loads. Stable operation with high-inductance windings is supported by a minimum load inductance of 200 µH. Torque commands are processed by a current loop that refreshes at 15 kHz, so the drive quickly counters disturbance forces without noticeable lag. Analog reference inputs pass through a 74.8 kΩ front end and are digitized at 12 bits, allowing fine adjustment of torque or velocity setpoints without excessive loading of upstream circuitry.
The internal position processor executes the velocity and position loop at 3 kHz, maintaining accurate trajectory tracking for pick-and-place tables or gantries. Machine integration is simplified by 12 optically isolated digital inputs for limit switches and homing sensors and by 4 digital outputs that can control external brakes or status lamps. For feedback, the module retransmits interpolated encoder data at 18 Mcount/s, giving downstream devices high-resolution position information in real time. A 5 V, 400 mA encoder supply and a 20 Arms mains current rating support the electrical connections. The compact enclosure measures 7.55 × 5.57 × 2.57 inches for cabinet installation in motion-focused production machinery.
