The PSX-140-10-3 is a three-phase DC power supply built by Copley Controls for the PST Power Supplies series. Designed for servo and stepper drive racks, the module rectifies incoming AC power and provides a stable high-voltage bus for amplifiers, I/O loads, and ancillary control electronics. By combining a dedicated transformer, bridge rectifier, filtering network, and protective breaker on one chassis, it simplifies cabinet layouts in automated machinery and reduces the effort required to assemble discrete power sections.
The nominal DC rail is +140 VDC, a level matched to Copley amplifiers so motor drives have sufficient operating voltage without exceeding component limits. Under continuous loading, the supply can source 10 A, enabling the simultaneous operation of several medium-frame servomotors. Its 1400 W rating supports connected loads without excessive voltage drop. The input stage accepts 50/60 Hz mains power, allowing operation with either standard line frequency. Isolation between the primary and secondary windings withstands 4 kV, keeping the DC bus electrically isolated from the incoming supply. The no-load output reaches +150 VDC, which is the open-circuit ceiling. A 3.4 kΩ bleeder resistor discharges stored energy after power is removed. A full-wave bridge rectifier processes the three-phase secondary, reducing ripple while keeping phase currents balanced.
On the upstream side, a thermal time-delay breaker trips when average conductor heat exceeds safe limits, and its interrupt threshold is 15 A. During normal operation, each incoming phase draws no more than 11 A, which prevents nuisance trips while maintaining fault isolation. The DC section is stabilized by 13,600 µF of capacitance, limiting bus ripple during load surges. An internal transformer rated at 2 kVA converts the mains input to a 106 VAC secondary that feeds the rectifier. The enclosure has a footprint measuring 7.0 by 11.5 inches for direct panel mounting.
