Copley Controls manufactures the PSX-065-17-3 as part of its PST Power Supplies series. This regulated supply converts three-phase AC into a steady DC rail that feeds Copley servo drives and similar automation loads. It provides the voltage and current needed for closed-loop motion axes while integrating protection and energy storage that keep downstream equipment within safe operating limits.
The supply provides an output of 65 VDC under load and can deliver a continuous current of 16.5 A, giving it a usable power ceiling of 1072 W for motors, actuators, or logic circuits. A bulk capacitor bank rated at 40,000 µF stores charge to smooth ripple and maintain the output through short input sags. Each line of the three-phase mains draws 17 A, and the design accepts standard plant frequencies of 50/60 Hz, allowing connection to typical industrial feeders. When the load is disconnected, the bus rises to a no-load value of 75 VDC, which must be considered when selecting insulation for connected equipment and cabinet wiring. Three internal circuit breakers isolate electrical faults. Each breaker pole is rated at 15 A to interrupt overcurrent before the transformer or rectifier diodes overheat.
A delta-wired transformer designed for three-phase operation is installed at the input stage. Its secondary winding has a capacity of 2 kVA and reduces the mains input to 53 VAC before rectification. A 1.95 kΩ bleeder resistor remains connected across the filter capacitors, allowing stored energy to discharge after shutdown and reducing residual voltage at the terminals. The rectifier converts the transformer output into the DC bus used by connected servo drives and automation equipment. The internal breakers disconnect excessive current, while the capacitor bank reduces output fluctuations caused by changing loads. The bleeder circuit continues discharging the capacitors after input power has been removed, supporting safe access once the required discharge time has elapsed.
