The PST-070-08-DP is a regulated DC power supply manufactured by Copley Controls as part of the PST Power Supplies series. Designed for industrial automation cabinets, it accepts utility power and delivers a controlled DC bus for servo drives, I/O islands, and other motion-control equipment. By isolating the conversion stage from downstream amplifiers, the module simplifies wiring and provides a dedicated energy source for equipment that must cycle rapidly while maintaining electrical stability. This arrangement also allows connected amplifiers to draw power from a centralized supply rather than requiring separate conversion hardware for each axis.
Its output rail is set to +70 VDC, and at this level, the supply can deliver 525 W continuously with a rated current of 7.5 A. To accommodate acceleration transients, the supply supports 2.5 times the rated current for up to 1 second, provided that these events remain within a 20% duty cycle. A no-load voltage of 79 VDC indicates the bus potential when no external load is connected. Output ripple is limited to 2% of the rated voltage through a 20,000 µF filter capacitor that stores energy and smooths the rectified waveform. A 3.9 kΩ bleed resistor discharges the capacitor after shutdown, reducing the stored voltage after input power is removed. The combination of filtering and controlled discharge supports stable operation during changing loads while allowing residual energy to dissipate after shutdown.
The input section accepts 115/230 VAC single-phase power at 50/60 Hz and draws a maximum of 7.6 A on the lower-voltage tap or 3.8 A on the higher-voltage tap. An internal 15 A magnetic circuit breaker protects the rectifier bridge and reduces the need for separate upstream overcurrent protection dedicated to the module. The assembly occupies a compact 7 × 11.5 in footprint that fits standard control plates, and its mounting pattern preserves clearance around heat-producing components. Its dual-voltage input supports installation on common industrial power systems without requiring a separate input transformer solely for voltage selection. The single-phase connection also simplifies integration into control panels that do not provide three-phase power for auxiliary equipment.
