Product Description:
The PST-040-13-DP power supply is produced by Copley Controls within the PST Power Supplies series. It converts single-phase AC mains power into a regulated DC bus that feeds servo drives and controller electronics in industrial automation cells. By stabilizing energy for axes that accelerate and regenerate, the unit helps motion equipment avoid voltage dips and keeps amplifiers within their operating range. Its design suits medium-power assemblies that share a common supply rather than use individual converters.
Under continuous load, the module delivers 13 A, while its input accepts 115/230 VAC at 50 or 60 Hz on a single-phase line. A rectifier section with a 1:1.414 conversion ratio charges a bulk capacitor bank rated at 47,000 µF, limiting bus voltage drops when six amplifiers are connected to the common output. The DC rail is rated at 40 VDC, while the no-load voltage can reach 45 VDC without exceeding device insulation limits. Available electrical power reaches 520 W, supporting coordinated motion on small gantries or feeders. The shared output reduces the amount of individual supply wiring required in the cabinet. Distributed capacitance and common return paths also help limit harmonic distortion across connected equipment.
When the ambient temperature rises, output capability decreases at a rate of 0.86% per °C, so the installation must provide adequate airflow. Overcurrent events open the integrated 15 A circuit breaker before the power semiconductors are damaged. A 3.9 kΩ bleeder resistor drains stored charge after mains power is removed, reducing the remaining bus voltage to a safer level. Bus quality is maintained by limiting full-load ripple to 2%, which helps preserve control accuracy for sensitive drives. The housing measures 11.5 inches long by 7.0 inches wide, providing predictable cabinet clearance requirements. The installation weight is 18.0 lb, allowing the unit to be positioned without specialized lifting equipment.
